Compared with the existing ordinary electric wheelchairs, the proposed intelligent wheelchair system is expected to be endowed with the function of joystick interactive control in terms of walking aid. And it can also realize multi-mode human-computer interaction, autonomous navigation and shared interaction between the two for different types of elderly and disabled people. In terms of rehabilitation, it’s expected to break through the limitation that the existing wheelchair system can only achieve walking assistance, and provide rehabilitation training for people with different types of lower limb motor dysfunction, so as to achieve a high integration of walking and rehabilitation. In terms of information acquisition, the smart wheelchair can be used as a data terminal, which can remotely transmit the vital signs parameters and location information of the elderly and disabled users to the hospital and their families through the Internet.
